Khalid Abdelaziz - Ph.D. Candidate

Research Topic: Morphing buildings for wind-induced vibration mitigation

Bio: Khalid Abdelaziz is a graduate of Cairo University, where he earned his B.Sc. as well as M.Sc. degrees in Mechanical Design and Production Engineering. His past research focused on the design optimization of solar water desalination systems as well as truss and frame structures. He has been involved in mechanical design and manufacturing projects for the Automotive Wiring Harness industry through his employment at IDACO Egypt.

Tyler Albright - Ph.D. Candidate

Research Topic: Minimally invasive distributed sensing for structural health monitoring in composites

Bio: Tyler Albright is a graduate of Kansas State University, where he earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2017. During undergrad, Tyler gained experience working in the aerospace industry through multiple internships with Spirit Aerosystems. At Spirit, Tyler designed, and performed stress analysis on primary aircraft structures.

Nathan Featherstone - MS Student

Research Topic: Control of beam buckling with smart materials

Bio: Nathan Featherstone graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from K-State in 2021. His areas of interest are Mechanical Design and Controls. Nathan has designed tooling used to manufacture diesel tanks for Alumitank and worked with a team to develop methods to predict permanent deformation of shear panels under diagonal tension for Textron Aviation.

Bryce Teaford - MS Student

Research Topic: Integrated linear generator design for powering UAVs with hybrid free-piston engines

Bio: Bryce Teaford earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2021 from Kansas State University. During undergrad, Bryce worked on multiple undergraduate research projects within the realm of mathematical simulation and machine control. In Bryce's final undergraduate project, he helped design, build, and develop a random positioning machine that will be used for microgravity simulation of cell cultures.
